Lucy Mayhew

Friday #PVFF21

Inspired by Tallest Man on Earth, Led Zeppelin, John Martyn, and Fleetwood Mac, Wirral songwriter Lucy has been gigging since 2015, gaining comparisons to Laura Marling, Michael Kiwanuka and Maggie Rogers with her indie-blues material. Her sound is a psych-folk swirl of soaring yet bluesy vocals, her songs having grown from a love of all manners of music. Fusing elements of folk, reggae and jazz into her guitar playing, she alternates between a Fender strat and a Faith acoustic to create a memorable, ever-changing live performance.

With recent performances at The Bedford Balham, Latitude festival, Seed festival, Gorjys Secrets, International Guitar Festival of Great Britain, Folk on the Dock, Smoked and Uncut, Llanfest, FOCUS Wales and more under her belt, plus working with Culture Club producer Steve Levine, Lucy is currently self-recording new material to release later in 2020. Championed by BBC Introducing’s Dave Monks in his Best of 2018 shortlist, she’s also been described by BBC’s Johnny I’Anson as having “really beautiful melodies, interesting and intricate lyrics… a great indication of the wealth of talent that is out there”.
