Threadbare Ravens – Weavers of a canvas of traditional harmonies and Celtic charm.
Since coming together early in 2013, Threadbare Ravens – (Carolan Burke and W David McKenzie) have performed at various folk clubs/bars/festivals in the Dorset and New Forest area, including Bournemouth Folk Club (Centre Stage), Lymington Folk Club (Thomas Tripp), Fiveways Folk Club. They are regular contributors to the Anonymous Travelling Market events and Chaplin’s Bar, Boscombe (Best Bar None). Threadbare Ravens are always well received when performing at local music venues and are rapidly gaining a reputation for creating beautiful atmospheric performances
Threadbare Ravens have recently recorded a selection of songs and various interviews on HOPE FM, a local radio station which broadcasts to Bournemouth and surrounding regions. They are a weave of Carolan’s Scottish and Irish ancestry, threaded with Venezuelan mystique, and David’s thoughtful and personal playing on acoustic guitar, Irish bouzouki, cittern and mandolin. Add in their harmony vocals, shruti box and the sound is complete.
Threadbare Ravens perform original music and songs alongside traditional and contemporary material, always embroidered with a love and respect of Celtic & Dark Folk music.
