Roger Davies

Saturday / Sunday

Roger Davies is one of today’s most engaging songwriters. He writes songs which inform, entertain and inspire audiences of all ages. Wear Your Poppy With Pride is his latest release: a fundraising single for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. The song was composed especially for the pupils of Shelley First School to sing at their Service of Remembrance last year as part of a music workshop conducted by Roger at the school. Two of his previous albums have recently been re-issued to satisfy demand as his audience increases with each concert and festival performance. His brand new album Local Radio will be released in March 2015.

Roger Davies‘ reputation has been growing rapidly over the past five years across his native Yorkshire. Progressing from songs about local characters and to Saturday nights out in local pubs to performances with Brighouse and Rastrick and Skelmanthorpe Brass Bands, his appeal has widened significantly. Known as the Yorkshire Songwriter and Bard of Calderdale he is the music equivalent of Yorkshire poet Ian McMillan, with words that resonate Yorkshire but contain universal themes of home, love, art and everyday life.
Roger has performed at Beverley Folk Festival, Shrewbury Folk Festival and many others and makes frequent appearances on BBC Radio Leeds.
