PerKelt are among London’s most accomplished and distinctive folk musicians. Inspired by European folk and speedy bluegrass, PerKelt blend many different genres into the characteristic sound they call ‘pagan speed folk’; their furiously fast, complicated, math-rock-inspired rhythms mix with playful, Celtic melodies to deliver a truly unique sound.
Coming from all corners of the globe, each member of PerKelt infuses their own cultural story into a distinctive musical blend. Olivia Petryszak raises an under-appreciated instrument – the recorder – to dazzling new heights, while Duncan Menzies adds his distinctive Scottish fiddle style and virtuosic improvisation. Rubén Yon’Ton, a sound healer from Mexico, performs otherworldly shamanic vocalisations alongside native instruments, while Stefan’s impactful playing style on the drum kit enriches the band’s traditional folk instrumentation with powerful new dimensions of psychedelic folk rock.
Fronted by guitarist, producer and visionary creative-force Stepan Honc, the band has evolved over fifteen years and hundreds of international performances (including Glastonbury Festival 2025) into a powerhouse of contemporary folk.
Their renewed line-up in 2026 – with recorder player, Olivia Petryszak, and drummer Stefan Macierowicz brings a fresh spark to their distinctive sound, merging all those years of experience with new, youthful energy, even more ‘out there’ ideas, and a genuine hunger to get on stage and play to as many audiences as possible.
‘Tremendously infectious.’ ★★★★★ – David Kidman (#332 Folk London Magazine, UK, 2024)
‘Outrageous musicianship’ – Gary Mackenzie (PROG Magazine, 2025)
