As a troubadour Paul Cherryseed sings and speak from the heart. The journey as a troubadour began in a community in Eck en Wiel, but he tries to make his home now almost everywhere. With duo, trio or full band he brings danceable folkpop with Brazilian vibes and gospel swing.
Paul Cherryseed has released 3 albums and 6 singles. His fourth very personal album ‘Eyes of the Blind’, where Cherryseed blends folkpop with Brazilian rhythms and gospel swing, will be released on the 5th April 2025.
He has performed more than 250 times in prisons, living rooms, churches, on the streets, cafes, festivals, theatres and even in an elevator.
In May 2013 Paul Cherryseed released his first album ‘The Desert, The Dew & The Dawn’ on Go West Records. The album included English rhythmic and fragile folksongs about fruitful land, joy, redemption and a girl with coloured pencils in her hair.
In 2016 Cherryseed dove deep into old black gospel, resulting in his second album ‘The Story of Saint Anonymous’ filled with rhythmic progressive folksongs about refugees, innocent prisoners, Bethlehem and Scotland. The most well-known song is ‘Roaming Stone’, a charity single he made to help refugees.
His third album is ‘Fishlove’ (2019), is a record with stories & rhythms from the North-East and heart of Brazil with forró, samba, choro in the mix with folkpop, with deep lovesongs about hard-working farmers, merry mamas, moving missionaries and about his lovely wife Ilse, who also plays in the band.
