Glastonbury based Nick Parker started gigging in his early teens playing mandolin and singing in folk/rock/skiffle band ‘Why?’ and spent the next 10 years bouncing around on stages at hundreds of venues and festivals around the world.
In 2010 he embarked on a solo career and has since enjoyed over 40 tours around the UK and Europe, playing his own shows, but also supporting the likes of Levellers, Skinny Lister, Bright Eyes, Tom Robinson and Chris Difford among many others.
Although mainly solo, Nick also has an 8-piece band ‘Nick Parker and the False Alarms’ whose sound sits somewhere between The Waterboys (Big Music era) and Arcade Fire, and features just about every instrument you can imagine.
The lyrics are often observational and occasionally humorous, but they can also hit you right in the feels when you least expect it.
For Purbeck Folk Festival – still relatively fresh from their spring tour supporting Levellers – Nick is joined by fiddle player Ben Wain who adds texture, an incredibly infectious smile and an extra bit of diddliness to the occasion.
