Jolene and the Leaves of Life
Day TBA 2026
#PVFF26
Drawing songs from British and American folk traditions, Jolene Missing’s pure, soulful voice has been compared to some of the classic voices of the folk revival of the 1960s and 70s – reminiscent of Shirley Collins or Shelagh McDonald. Joe Hymas is best known for his wildfire mandolin playing in rockgrass band Hayseed Dixie, but he is a multi-instrumentalist, equally adept at fingerpicking guitarstyles and clawhammer banjo. The trio is completed by bassist Richard Partridge. In the summer of 2025 they played at Ely Folk Festival, Gower Americana & Roots Festival, and at the Betsey Trotwood in London. Jolene has released an album called Leaves of Life.
“This set is an absolute joy. Jolene Missing surely has the loveliest voice heard all weekend, one part Shelagh MacDonald another Anne Briggs, it is pure of tone and piercing in its conviction.” – Danny Neill, Fruit Tree Records, 2025
