Ceilidh band Dyer Cummings are based in the southwest of England who have now been together for around 10 years. They play traditional English folk music with their own funky and youthful twist which is achieved by the unique mix of instruments merged with fun and energetic arrangements. They have been called a new uprising of Folk Fusion.
The band features four top performers; Jon Dyer on Bass Guitar & Flute, Penny Dyer on Bassoon, Hannah Cumming on Fiddle and Alex Cumming, the bands Caller, on Piano Accordion and Bouzouki. D:C also occasionally welcome James Findlay (BBC Young Folk Musician of the Year 2010) on fiddle as a special guest for some concerts.
Over the past couple of years Dyer:Cumming’s have performed ceilidh’s and concerts at some of the country’s top events and venues including Sidmouth Folk Week, Priddy Folk Festival, Colston Hall Bristol, Bristol Empire Museum and Trowbridge Village Pump Festival as well as running hugely successful children’s workshops for schools, organisations and festivals including Sidmouth Folk Week, Towersey Village Festival (as part of Shooting Roots), Folk South West, Chard Independant School and Somerset Music.
In 2009 they came 2nd in the Glastonbury Festival Battle of the Bands at the Colston Hall and were also finalists in the national competition ‘New Roots’.
Dyer:Cumming’s have now recorded two CD’s. The first CD was released in 2007 and there latest (an EP) was released in the Summer 2010.
