Queer, alt-folk agitators, Dryadic deliver an intelligent, feminist blend of rootsy folk with a melodic pop flair, peppered with heart soaring vocals, and vibrant fiddle licks. Dryadic’s new album “Permission to Speak” was released this February.
Described by BBC Introducing as “an amazing dynamic folk band bringing feminine protest through the dreamier side of music…”.
‘Rainbow Family’ the wistful, heartfelt and empowering anthem was immediately added to the BBC Introducing West and Orbital playlist, garnering rave reviews. Sharply followed by Mansplain, “An unapologetically queer and funny, in-your-face but poignant takedown of those dreaded unsolicited opinions that are frequently hoisted upon us.” (Loud Women).
Their breathtaking, final single of 2025 ‘Ghosts’ was “beautiful, haunting, fragile and very powerful” (Earmilk); a brave contrast to the previous Levellers-esque folk-rock anthem. ‘Redevelop Our Souls’ was described as “Ageless, as if Joan Baez suddenly plugged in and had tea with Florence Welch and sparked a revolution” by Lost In The Manor Magazine.
Dryadic’s distinctive sound and connected live show command the audience with tenacious singalong hooks delivered straight from the heart, backed by epic layered harmonies, raw energy, emotion and charisma. Feel-good, rousing rhythms underpin candid, humorous lyrics. Expect foot-stomping feminist protest songs and travelling folk tales, to dreamy epic ballads with five string fiddle and double bass do-si-do in the audience.
