The Songwriters’ Circle was mentioned in lots of your feedback as one of the favourite gigs at the festival. Last year it was just brilliant, and this year is shaping up to be even better with Boo Hewerdine, Nizlopi, and Maz O’Connor.

The songwriters circle is a unique way of hearing these songwriters’ song in an intimate, less formal way, hearing a little bit about the song and how they came up with it, and the writing process.

Boo Hewerdine – writer of Eddi Reader’s hit ‘Patience of Angels’ amongst many others. Folky people will be familiar with his song ‘Harvest Gypsies’ performed by Kris Drever, and many, many others.

Nizlopi had a number one hit with their ‘JCB Song’, and they have a wealth of other brilliant songs including some of Luke Colcannon’s more recent solo work. Nizlopi are one of Ed Sheeran’s biggest influences in songwriting.

Maz O’Connor is an upcoming star who has taken the UK folk scene by storm in the last few years. She has been nominated for BBC Folk awards and is a great songwriter.
