Jaywalkers
The past year has been an extremely successful one for this young band. Along with 2 full UK tours, a summer of festivals – including the Cambridge Folk Festival and Sidmouth Folk Week – and the release of their highly acclaimed third album – Weave – they have established themselves as one of the top bands working on the Folk and Bluegrass Scene. Back in March 2015, the band received an Emerging Excellence Award from Help Musicians UK, which enabled them to work with Andy Bell – producer and engineer for top folk acts such as Bellowhead and Martin Simpson – on their new CD, which has helped them mature from a promising young band, to a full on professional unit.

Most of their set consists of original songs inspired by stories and poetry from Mike’s home county of Lancashire. The history of the area starts around the time of the Industrial Revolution when the cotton industry arrived, so there are strong themes running through the set about the trials of life in industrial Lancashire. But, its not all doom and gloom! The band litters their set with blistering, foot-stomping, up-tempo instrumentals and more cheerful traditional songs to entertain the soul and cheer the heart.
